Short description: The course contains the issues involving an analysis of the types of behavior and mechanisms for their control in selected animal species (mammals and birds)
Full description: Basic definitions related to animal behavior, characteristics of behavior categories and forms, standards of daily behaviors, genetic and physiological determinants of animal behavior, utilization of the knowledge concerning animal behavior (social, sexual behaviors, care on progeny, aggressive, cognitive behaviors, subordination) in the breeding, their modifications in various systems of animals housing, stress phenomenon, behavior and welfare.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: On completion it is necessary to prepare reports on field activities (behavior ethograms of observed animals) and prepare a presentation of the issues related to animal behavior. Students have to pass two tests including material from the lectures. The presence at exercises is obligatory and in the absence of the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. On completion it is necessary to obtain 60% of the points.
